As more homes and businesses install security systems, more false alarms are triggered in financially strapped Indianapolis. That means more money for the city that fines residents after they set off two or more false alarms. At only six months into the year, police have already issued more than $450,000 worth of citations, collecting $250,931 so far. City officials originally expected to collect $300,000 in fines, but now estimate that total could be more than twice that amount. http://www.indystar.com/articles/8/162331-5118-009.html
