Wisconsin cop wins doughnut-eating contest
Living up to a stereotype paid off for a Wisconsin police officer who recently claimed the top prize in a doughnut-eating contest. According to The Associated Press, Terry O’Brien of the Town of Geneva, Wis., Police Department “left his opponents in a cloud of powdered sugar dust in downing 9 1/2 doughnuts in three minutes.” The contest, which featured 40 participants from the U.S. and Canada, was held at the Twin Lakes, Wis.-based International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association’s annual conference in Rolling Meadows, Ill., according to the AP. Master of Ceremonies Ed Nowicki told the AP that he was shocked by O’Brien’s consumption. “I thought they’d do seven [doughnuts], maybe they’d do eight,” he said. “I couldn’t believe 10!” For more information, visit http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Midwest/04/16/cops.doughnuts.ap/index.html.
