Associate Traffic Engineer
The City of Klamath Falls, Oregon is seeking a multi-faceted Engineer to take the lead on traffic related issues within our community. The functions and duties of the position require a self motivated, confident individual with strong communication skills who can work independently with a variety of community groups, governmental agencies and internal staff. The responsibilities of this position include:

Represent the City on the Traffic Control Board which has representatives from the City, Oregon Department of Transportation, Klamath County, Basin Transit Service, and members of the general public.

Plan for growth and manage traffic issues associated with private development and the City’s capital projects.

Procure and manage consultants where appropriate

Install and monitor traffic count devices throughout the City.

Conduct warrant analysis for control devices.

Support the City’s Street Department for traffic related concerns

Maintain the City’s bridge inventory files and apply for related grants

Design traffic and transportation related improvements

Maintain the City’s Pavement Management System

Participate in setting Street related budgetary priorities

Attend City Council Meetings and present findings as necessary on various issues and concerns
The urban area of Klamath Falls is a growing community of approximately 45,000 located on the east side of the Cascade Mountain range, approximately 150 miles south of Bend and 20 miles from the California Border. The City is an easy drive to Reno/Tahoe, Bay Area or Portland. The City boasts of approximately 300 days of sunshine per year in a high desert climate. Outdoor activities abound.
This position presents a fantastic opportunity for the right individual who loves technical challenges, is comfortable working with minimal supervision and/or direction and would like to make a difference in a growing community. Traffic Engineering is fairly new addition to the Public Works Department and to the community but enjoys full City Council support and appreciation. This position will remain open until filled as the City seeks the right person to fill this critical position.
Salary: $50,428.74 + excellent benefit package.
