Ohio town’s fire station wins design award
The design for the Delhi Township (Ohio) Main Fire Station has received an award from Fire Chief magazine, a sister publication of American City &County. The 32,250-square-foot facility, which is scheduled for completion in September, received the Gold Medal for Outstanding Design of a Career Station in the magazine’s first annual Station Style Design Awards competition. The township contracted with Cincinnati-based Cole + Russell Architects to design the new headquarters for the fire department.
The building, which is being constructed on the site of an existing fire station, will feature 800 square feet of museum space, living and sleeping quarters for a shift of 10, an emergency operations center and space for a future dispatch center. Additionally, the station design incorporates training features, such as a 40-foot stair tower that can be used to practice high-angle rescue, ladder evolutions, hose advancing and rapelling.
