Prince George’s County, Md. 3
Route 1 Ride project
The southern section of the Route 1 Corridor in Prince George?s County, Md., spans over six miles, cutting through various neighborhoods of disparate demographics. The route has over 75 different stops, and helps to connect residents in an area with a notable air of ?disconnectedness.?
The Prince George?s County Council saw the needs of the area and allocated financing for the route, which includes the most urban and congested areas of the county. When the route started service, it was not well publicized, but through a rebranding effort, the route has helped transform still-struggling neighborhoods into a thriving artistic and economic corridor.
