Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Lee R. Feldman, city manager
“I think many local governments across the country are seeing an improvement in their fiscal condition,” says Lee R. Feldman, city manager in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
But, the mayor adds, “many communities are trying to catch up due to the many years of deferred maintenance (roads, bridges, buildings) that was a result of parsing out limited resources during the Great Recession. “
What should city officials do in the remainder of 2016 and in 2017? Feldman urges that they “adhere to their city’s visions and strategic plans. Those communities will fare the best.”
