New York City Pension Funds invest in Northern Ireland
Four New York City Pension Funds plan to invest $150 million in the Emerald Infrastructure Development Fund for Northern Ireland. Officials say the investment will diversify the funds’ portfolios and boost long-term asset performance.
New York’s City Employees Retirement System, the Teacher Retirement System for the City of New York, the New York City Police Pension Fund and the Fire Department Fund will make the investment, said William Thompson, the city’s comptroller, in a statement. “This announcement signals a great opportunity for investors such as the pension funds to invest in Northern Ireland’s bright future, ” he said. “We will continue to prudently assess other investment opportunities created by the dawn of this new era of peace in Northern Ireland.”
