NLC opens nominations for Municipal Excellence Awards
The Washington-based National League of Cities (NLC) is accepting nominations for its Municipal Excellence Awards. The awards recognize city programs that improve residents’ quality of life.
Nominations are evaluated based on the programs’ innovation, successful implementation and measurable benefit to the community. Judges also will look at the successful use of public/private partnerships and effective management of municipal resources.
The contest is divided into population categories: less than 50,000; 50,001 to 150,000; 150,001 to 500,000; and more than 500,001. May 3 is the deadline for entering nominations, and winners will receive their awards at NLC’s Congress of Cities, scheduled for Nov. 11-15 in Orlando, Fla. Nomination packages are available at www.nlc.org.
