California: Prop 56 (initiative amendment + statute) raises cigarette taxes to $2 per pack. Money would go towards healthcare, tobacco prevention programs and research. Passed.
Colorado: Amendment 72 (initiative amendment) increases tobacco tax from 84 cents to $2.59 per pack. Money would go towards healthcare, tobacco prevention programs and research. Did not pass.
Missouri: Constitutional Amendment 3 (initiative) increases tobacco tax from 17 cents to 77 cents per pack. Also levies 67 cents per pack tax on wholesalers. Money would go towards infrastructure projects and early childhood education. Passed.
North Dakota: Initiated Statutory Measure 4 (initiative) increases tobacco tax from 44 cents to $2.20 per pack. Money would go towards the state’s hospital and veterans home. Did not pass.
