Fire departments use the grants to purchase equipment and to fund training, health and fitness programs and facility modifications needed for those programs. There are some changes to the AFG program this year, and the Fairfax, Va.-based International Association of Fire Chiefs plans to release a program guide early this month. Information on the guide is available at www.iafc.org.
May 4 is the deadline to apply for the grants. Applications and more information are available at www.firegrantsupport.com.
