Former Atlanta mayor reviews fire history
Sam Massell, Buckhead Coalition president and former Atlanta mayor, is pictured reviewing the 135-year history of Atlanta’s Fire Department in a bound volume delivered by Deputy Chief Michael Simmons. The volume was given to Massell from Chief Kelvin Cochran. It is inscribed “For his steadfast support of Atlanta Fire Rescue.” Massell served 22 years in elected offices, including eight as president of the Atlanta City Council (then called the Board of Aldermen) and four as the city's mayor. He has held his present role with the Coalition since the group's formation over 25 years ago.
