Houston is classified as a hyperconnected city advancer — it is “making progress on interconnecting [its] urban ecosystem and realizing benefits,” according to the “Building a Hyperconnected City” report by ESI Thought Labs.
Including the 76 other international cities in the 100-city index, Houston is ranked 28th.
Among the four pillars of city transformation helped determine the report’s hyperconnected cities index, Houston placed 6th in the technology pillar and 6th in the connected citizens pillar rankings. It also tied for 6th with Shenzhen, China, in the data & analytics pillar ranking and tied for 12th with Cambridge, U.K., in the cybersecurity ranking.
