Truck analysis spotlights price trends and sales activity

The new edition of the Truck Blue Book’s “Commercial Truck Monthly Report” analyzes heavy and medium duty truck activity.

The new edition of the Truck Blue Book’s “Commercial Truck Monthly Report” reviews December 2015 data. The report analyzes heavy and medium duty truck activity by price, region and manufacturer. It provides a quick snapshot of industry trending by all major metrics. The report is free to download.

The report states: “It was certainly a much slower month for the resale market in comparison to November than previously seen, however the auction market saw the largest volume increase of the three year span. Volume increased from November to December in all three years with 2015 being the highest percentage.”

“Both November and December showed slower sales volume on the private resale market as it tends to do at the end of the year,” says Jessica Carr, Senior Industry Analyst for Price Digests & EquipmentWatch. “The volume on the auction market however showed increases for both months.  December has been a strong month for auction sales in the past three years.”

Two observations from the latest report:
Both 2008 and 2009 model year trucks retain 41 percent of their MSRPs, which is higher than the 2011s at only 39 percent.
The Southeast went from being the highest priced region at auction in November to the lowest priced in December.

EquipmentWatch is a source for heavy equipment data and insights for the contractor, DOT, equipment finance, inland marine insurance and seller/renter communities. It offers benchmarking products including The Truck Blue Book. The products supply equipment ownership and operating costs, valuations and advertised retail rentals. Supporting products enable sales data mining and year-verification using serial number and specs research.  EquipmentWatch provides a comprehensive product portfolio for the heavy equipment industry.
