Survey: Public purchasers prefer paper to software

Many governments still rely on paper and homegrown solutions to manage their purchasing operations, according to a poll of almost 500 procurement professionals from the Herndon, Va.-based National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP). American City & County’s sister publication, Government Product News, reports on the survey on its website today.
Under-automation is still prevalent, with 22 percent of purchasers surveyed saying their departments do not use procurement software of any kind, according to NIGP’s “2011 Survey on the Use of Procurement Software in the Public Sector.” Read Government Product News’ entire report.
