Leaders to share tips for using consumer technology in government
Millions of Americans are using smart phones every day, and local governments can take advantage of the devices and their technology to create some positive changes in their communities. That is the message of an Oct. 11, 2011, webinar that will feature IT leaders from the Washington-based Public Technology Institute (PTI) during the State & Local Government Summit.
Presenters for the “How Consumer Technology is Changing Local and State Governments” webinar will discuss how cities and counties are using photos, videos, GPS and smart phones to transform their operations. Moderated by Alan Shark, executive director of PTI, the online seminar will discuss the consumerization of technology and the challenges it poses, as well as how to use social media to create additional opportunities to better engage residents.
The webinar, from 4 to 5 p.m. EST on Oct. 11, is part of the State & Local Government Summit, a one-day online conference hosted by American City & County magazine and Microsoft that includes six education sessions and a virtual exhibit hall.
