But, officer, Diego had to go
Drivers have been known to try lots of tricks to sneak into high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes, but one Washington state man made a bad choice for a “passenger.” On Nov. 29, a state patrol trooper stopped the man near Seattle and found the driver had placed a stuffed Diego doll from the Nickelodeon children’s show “Go, Diego, Go!” in the front passenger seat, according to the Associated Press.
It was the doll’s huge, unblinking eyes that made the state trooper suspicious when he stopped the car along an Interstate 405 on-ramp, where the trooper had been pulling over people who were driving in the HOV lane with only one person in the car. The unidentified driver said he was late for work and borrowed his daughter’s doll so he could use the HOV lane. The driver was cited for the HOV lane violation.
