Just kickin’ it

Lippman, a photographer with the Newark, N.J., Press Information Office, took this photo of a girl practicing soccer goal kicks at a tent provided by the Just One Newark soccer league during the city’s 3rd Annual “Festival de la Familia Latina” in early October. Held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the annual festival celebrates Latino arts and culture with family-oriented activities, and information from key community stakeholders in government, non-profit, and community organizations. This year’s theme was “Let’s Move,” or “Muevete,” in Spanish, in support of the mission of First Lady Michelle Obama’s national “Let’s Move” campaign to reduce childhood obesity within a generation. The festival offered fitness activities, including salsa and samba, a variety of free screenings by participating health care providers, jump-rope activities, stilt-walking, sack races, and basketball shoots.
