Goodyear, Ariz., resident Dave Finley took this photo at the city's annual fireworks show at its baseball ballpark. In the foreground stands “The Ziz,” a fiberglass sculpture created by artist Donald Lipski.
Selected by a panel of Goodyear residents and arts professionals, Lipski looked to Goodyear’s connection to aviation for inspiration. The height of the sculpture plus the pedestal is 60 feet, 6 inches, the exact distance between home plate and the pitcher’s mound.
