Live the legend at NIGP Forum 2010

Most Forum events will be held at the Marriott Rivercenter, including concurrent workshop sessions, Peer2Peer sessions, plenary sessions and major meal functions. The San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter and San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk are NIGP’s co-host hotels.
About 130 exhibitors will display products and services at the Products Exposition at the Forum on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. NIGP’s Green Pavilion showcases the latest sustainable products and green certification information that support government green initiatives.

Noteworthy Workshops
“Creating Legendary Savings in Your Organization”
Monday, Aug. 16
In today’s economy, procurement professionals have a tremendous opportunity to create savings within their agencies. With “shot up” budgets, now more than ever, procurement is poised to become a hero that can rescue an organization during the current downturn. By identifying the value-added services procurement provides for an agency, attendees can establish a plan for implementation based on the list of money-saving ideas discussed in this session.
Presenter: Marcheta Gillespie, deputy director of procurement, Tucson, Ariz.
“Measuring Cost Savings: Management’s Perspective”
Tuesday, Aug. 17
What can we learn from the results of a survey conducted among finance directors, city managers and other senior executives concerning the role of procurement performance measurement? The survey focused on techniques for measuring cost savings in bids. Attendees will learn the correlation between responses in the executive survey compared to results in a similar survey of procurement managers on the same topic. Do they agree? Do they disagree? The interactive session will have participants work together to attain a consensus standard for cost savings measurement.
Presenter: Michael Bevis, deputy director, Federal Acquisition Institute, Washington, D.C.
