Railway passenger safety system
The Sentinel Between-Car-Barrier System consists of 26-inch-high, 36-inch-long posts that prevent transit riders from stepping off train platforms onto the tracks below. If the train docks incorrectly and an opened door is aligned with the barrier, the barrier contains a reactive spring device that allows wheelchair-bound riders to pass over it and exit the train. The system is designed to meet the Federal Transit Administration’s directive concerning protection of visually impaired riders. Constructed of colorful, non-metallic and UV-resistant material, the barrier addresses electrical conductivity, fire retardancy, and environmental resistance issues.
