Television funnyman Conan O’Brien has had no mercy in his on-air analysis of Newark, N.J., joking during NBC’s “The Tonight Show” on Sept. 23 that Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s plan to improve residents’ health care “would consist of a bus ticket out of Newark,” according to CNN.com.
On Sept. 30, Booker retaliated by “banning” O’Brien from Newark International Airport.
The tit-for-tat continued until October, when Booker accepted the comedian’s offer to come on the show, during which, according to the Associated Press, Booker plugged his plans for urban transformation in Newark, and O’Brien and NBC agreed to donate $100,000 to the Newark Now charity.
