The Metropolitan District Commission in Hartford, Conn., has contracted with Overland Park, Kan.-based Black & Veatch to design and oversee the construction of an energy recovery facility that will burn biosolids from the Hartford Water Pollution Control Facility (below) to produce electricity. The energy recovery process is expected to produce approximately 1.5 megawatts of electricity every hour, providing 40 percent of the wastewater facility’s annual electricity consumption.
Sioux Falls Regional Airport Authority in Sioux Falls, S.D., has contracted with Canton, S.D.-based Hoogendorn Construction; Kansas City, Mo.-based Automatic Systems; and Salina, Kan.-based Kasa Industrial Controls for an airport terminal expansion.
