A bridge — and bottle — too far
Drinking and drawbridge-keeping just do not mix.
Drinking and drawbridge-keeping just do not mix. Ask 49-year-old Robert Finn, a Boston Department of Public Works employee charged with manning the Andrew P. McArdle Bridge between Bean Town and Chelsea.
In August, Chelsea police arrested Finn after finding him apparently “in a state of intoxication” at his post, according to Boston’s NewsCenter 5 television news. The situation came to light when a tugboat attempted to pass under the bridge but was unable to contact Finn to have him raise the structure.
Finn was placed into protective custody, and the city put him on paid administrative leave.
