Snow removal system
The SnowClear snow removal radiant heating system is suited for pedestrian areas and handicap ramps. It consists of three components: sized-to-fit heating panels, sensors to automatically turn the system on and off (manual controls also are included), and an electronic energy management system. According to the manufacturer, the system reduces the total cost of ownership by up to 50 percent versus traditional snow and ice melting technologies. The system’s panels are available in a multitude of sizes. The panels incorporate the manufacturer’s snow-melting cables, pre-attached to a highly flexible, strong plastic mesh. In addition, the panels are engineered to provide even heating across their entire area. Independent sensors mounted either in the air or embedded in the pavement operate automatically when the temperature falls below freezing and precipitation hits the sensors. The pads then heat and stay on until no precipitation remains on the pavement, at which point the system shuts off automatically. There is also a manual on/off option.
