Two Ohio police chiefs are under investigation for allegedly breaking into the home of the surrogate mother of the children of actors Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Martins Ferry, Ohio, Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport, Ohio, Chief Chad Dojack are accused of breaking into the woman’s Martins Ferry home to acquire information that they could sell to the National Enquirer tabloid. Carpenter told local media that he had met with Enquirer employees previously and “messed” with them about possibly having information on the woman, but he denied breaking into her home. “I’m 100 percent innocent in this, and my department is as well,” Carpenter told TV station WTOV.
