Life has gone south for Dixie the drug dog. In May, the Snohomish, Wash., City Council voted to retire the seven-year-old shepherd-collie mix to save $16,000 a year in vet care, food, grooming, kennel and training costs, according to the Associated Press. The city will keep Kizar, its other police dog, because he is younger and also is trained to track criminals.
