Federal officials to speak at NLC conference
The new chiefs of Washington are scheduled to speak at the Washington-based National League of Cities‘ (NLC) Congressional City Conference, which is set to begin on Monday at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park. The speaker list includes U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson.
The annual conference is designed to inform municipal leaders about federal policy issues and to give city officials a chance to bring their concerns to federal officials. Holder and LaHood will discuss aspects of the recently passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), including funding for law enforcement programs and transportation projects. Napolitano is expected to discuss her review of DHS’ coordination with state and local law enforcement agencies, and Jackson will discuss her top environmental priorities.
More information on the conference is available on NLC’s Congressional City Conference page.
