Maricopa County, Ariz., employees and their dependents now can see a nurse about minor health problems and have prescriptions filled right at the office. In January, the county opened an on-site health clinic and pharmacy at the County Administration Building in downtown Phoenix for the 12,500 county employees and their dependents. The pharmacy is operated by Walgreens, and its subsidiary Take Care Health Systems operates the clinic. The county has contracted with Walgreens Health Initiatives for more than six years for pharmacy benefit management and other health care services and officials expect the on-site facility to save at least $575,000 annually on health-care and prescription costs.
