In November, Portola Valley, Calif., celebrated the completion of its 11-acre Town Center, tucked between a redwood grove, an old orchard and a creek.
Designed by Emeryville, Calif.-based Siegel & Strain Architects with Goring & Straja Architects, the center includes a town hall, library, community hall and playing fields, and is expected to achieve a LEED Platinum rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.
