Modeling software
Bentley Systems
SewerCAD V8 XM Edition includes features to help engineers evaluate sewer capacity, size pipes, select pumps and identify the locations of potential overflows. The software includes advanced thematic mapping and improved utilities for converting and integrating data from CAD, GIS and other data stores. Using the software, modelers can automatically design gravity piping and structures by specifying elements, from a single pipe size to the entire system, and entering the design restrictions, including minimum and maximum velocities, covers and slopes; pipe and manhole matching offsets; and allow or disallow drop structures. The software determines cost-effective pipe sizes and inverted elevations, eliminating pipe trench excavation.

Agar plates
Hach
Plates prepared with m-ColiBlue24 Broth simultaneously detect and identify total coliforms and Escherichia coli (E. coli). Complete enumeration is accomplished in only 24 hours. No confirmation step is required, nor are fluorescent lamps or color comparators. Users can see E. coli colonies in blue, and other coliforms are red. Total coliforms are the sum of the two. The ready-to-use media eliminates measuring, mixing, and autoclaving steps necessary to prepare dehydrated media. The method has been approved by the EPA for monitoring drinking water and wastewater and can be used to detect coliforms in other types of water, such as bottled, surface, ground, well and recreational (fresh or marine).

Automated tipper
Wayne Engineering
The Arlock tipper system is manufactured for rear loader collection vehicles. Rear loaders can latch onto commercial dumpsters and tip, dump and release in a single motion. The unit’s latching system locks onto both sides of a dumpster’s trunions. While the latching arms pull up on the trunions, a kick bar pivots upward, which empties the dumpster. When the tailgate plate extends upward, it eliminates the gap between the tailgate and dumpster, preventing refuse from escaping. Available on the company’s Phoenix rear loaders, the unit also can be retrofitted to other rear load vehicles.

Bird repellent
Bird-X
The Mega Blaster PRO sonic repeller is designed to keep birds away from large outdoor spaces, such as landfills, up to 30 acres.?It broadcasts intermittent distress calls and predator cries that frighten the infesting birds and cause them to leave the area. The unit is pre-recorded in four configurations for the most common infestations: “Agricultural,” “Marine,” “Crow / Raven” and “Woodpecker.” The sounds can be customized by volume setting, programming “silent time” between sound bursts and hours of operation. The unit has two high-output amplifiers that drive a specially designed 20-speaker tower with a frequency range of 2,000 — 10,000Hz (up to 125 decibels). The unit has a 40-watt solar panel to help power a 12v DC battery. The generating unit can be mounted to a post or pole using the included mounting hardware and bracket.

Waste container
Meese Orbitron Dunne
The P-333 e-Scrap bulk container is rotationally molded in a single piece of 100% polyethylene to withstand the weight, sharp corners and unwieldy shapes of scrap computer hardware and accessories without cracking, chipping or warping. It is fitted with enclosed fork tubes set atop industrial strength casters so e-scrap organizations can collect, cover and transport the waste without transferring it to a separate container for shipping. The container can be forklifted, rotated and dumped completely upside down over a roll-off or trailer to consolidate larger volumes for transport and shipping. When empty, the container may be rolled back into place for collection or into storage. A choice of 16 standard colors and optional custom colors and permanent, molded-in lettering, logos and tracking numbers are available.

Crime data sharing
CODY Systems
C.O.B.R.A. v. 4.0 is a suite of applications designed to help public safety agencies share real-time data with multiple jurisdictions and officers and agents in the field. Officers can use the software on their MDCs or PDAs to run names, vehicles, incidents, and entities from other jurisdictions. The software keeps each contributing agency’s information segregated from all others in its own Insulated Data Silo, and each agency maintains control over its silo, including what information to share, and what different users can see. It translates and transmits data from one data source to another, regardless of the local vendors, databases, or schemas used, and it conforms to prevailing data standards, such as NIEM 2.0. Data can be pushed up-stream or “cross-stream” to systems such as the FBI N-DEx system or other data-sharing systems.
