Department of Education awards $300 million IT contract to Vangent

Department of Education awards $300 million IT contract to Vangent

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid has awarded an enterprise development support services (EDSS) development services contract to Arlington, Va.-based Vangent. The Department of Education estimates that the 10-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a ceiling value of $300 million, if all options are exercised.

The agreement will allow Vangent to continue its 30-year partnership with the Office of Federal Student Aid to support students’ pursuit of their educational goals.

Under the terms of the agreement, Vangent will bid on task orders to provide software engineering services to support technology life-cycle management and procurement across multiple Federal Student Aid and Department of Education initiatives.

The EDSS contract award enhances Vangent’s established relationship with Federal Student Aid, including its work on the Front-End Business Integration (FEBI) system, the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG), the Common Services for Borrowers (CSB) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), according to the company.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Federal Student Aid in helping the agency acquire innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet its important mission of ensuring that all eligible individuals benefit from federal financial assistance – grants, loans and work-study programs – for education beyond high school.” said Mac Curtis, president and CEO of Vangent. “Federal Student Aid’s award of the EDSS contract to Vangent validates our past performance and recognizes our capabilities and reputation in the marketplace for delivering high-quality end-to-end design, build and operate solutions.”
