The reconstructed I-35W bridge in Minneapolis reopened Sept. 15, 13 months after it collapsed in August 2007. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) Commissioner Tom Sorel and other officials welcomed the opening of the St. Anthony Falls Bridge. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the collapse, and is expected to release a full report in November, according to Mn/DOT. Details of the new bridge opening, including a live Webcam and photos of people who worked on the project, are available at www.dot.state.mn.us.
