Albert H. Hall Award: E. Ray Burnett
Burnett’s resume includes a long list of professional contributions and awards, including an NIGP Distinguished Service Award in 1999 and the Presidential Spirit of NIGP Award in 2007. He has served NIGP as a master instructor and as a member of the board of directors, among other capacities.
Despite such a worthy list of credentials, Burnett said that he was shocked when he realized that he was about to receive the Albert H. Hall Memorial Award.
“I can remember years past, sitting at the table with my friends, listening to the award presentation and trying to figure out who the winner might be,” Burnett told Go Pro. “We did the same this year and it was about two-thirds into Kirk’s presentation that I thought, ‘Holy —-, he is talking about me.’”
Burnett added that he has been “fortunate to work in some great places with wonderful and professional staff and administrators who allowed me to be a part of NIGP.”
“It is to them and to all my friends and associates in NIGP that I owe my thanks and gratitude,” Burnett said.
The Albert H. Hall Memorial Award is NIGP’s top honor, given annually since 1977 to publicly recognize leaders who have made major contributions to the public procurement profession over the span of their career.
