The third edition of the Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria (MMUCC) — a voluntary guideline that helps states collect consistent, reliable crash data — was released last month by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Governors Highway Safety Association, both based in Washington. The guide is designed to help transportation officials identify traffic safety problems, establish goals and performance measures, monitor programs, and allocate resources for enforcement, engineering and education. The new guide has been posted with other updated background information on www.mmucc.us.
