The Washington-based National Association of Counties (NACo) is one of 17 organizations and private companies that have joined the Washington-based Alliance to Save Energy in encouraging consumers to use less gasoline this summer. Last month, the group launched a “Drive $marter” campaign to offer gasoline-saving tips on an interactive Web site, English and Spanish tip cards, radio public service announcements and other marketing devices. NACo is challenging its 3,066 members to get the most number of residents to participate from July through November. Three winning counties each will receive 1,000 bottles of fuel additive/cleaner from Auto Zone. For more information, visit the Web site, www.drivesmarterchallenge.org.
