Mobile trailers enable vital communications at disaster sites
The trailers are part of the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability (JISCC) program and will further the first nationwide system for interagency command and control during disaster response.
Each trailer features advanced communications systems that allow rapid deployment anywhere in the United States. To provide a complete, self-contained solution, trailers integrate secure satellite and wireless communications, land mobile radios, voice-over-IP (Internet Protocol) telephones and video teleconferencing equipment. Installed equipment delivers high-bandwidth connectivity even when the surrounding infrastructure is severely damaged.
The communications trailers were ordered under a $16.7 million Worldwide Satellite Systems contract, which is part of a SATCOM Terminal Program at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J.
Prime contractor for the communications trailers and equipment is DataPath Inc., based in Duluth, Ga. The company handles integration and support of the trailer systems, providing everything from fly-away SATCOM terminals, engineering and training services to network-control software, baseband systems and 24/7 support from the company’s Systems Management Center.
Applied Global Technologies, headquartered in Rockledge, Fla., partnered with DataPath to supply land mobile radios, engineering expertise and related services for the JISCC program.
