Cincinnati teaches youth computer skills
Cincinnati is launching a program this spring to teach computers skills to students ages 12 to 18. Two IT Village Youth Labs have been created to conduct the training, including software use and computer repair, to 20 students over six weeks. As a partner in the program, Round Rock, Texas-based Dell will donate a computer, a one-year Internet subscription to America Online and other technology accessories to each student that completes the training. Volunteers from the city/county Regional Computer Center are teaching the courses, and it is supported by the Uptown Consortium, Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, and the Avondale Community Pride Center.
