The Alexandria, Va.-based Salt Institute is accepting applications for its Excellence in Storage Award. The award goes to agencies that demonstrate unique and effective ways to store highway-deicing salt.
According to the institute’s handbook on salt storage, proper storage includes consideration of environmental factors, employee and community safety, good housekeeping practices and provisioning to assure that the community has enough salt to meet its winter snow and ice emergency needs without resupply. Applications for the Excellence in Storage Award are available at http://www.saltinstitute.org, and the deadline for applying is May 1.
