ICMA forms sustainability leadership advisory committee
The Washington-based International City/County Management Association (ICMA) has selected 30 members to serve on a leadership advisory committee on sustainability. The committee will provide guidance on ways ICMA can provide education, resources, tools and techniques to help local leaders form sustainability initiatives.
Members of the committee have “demonstrated commitment to sustainability issues in their home communities,” according to ICMA. Sustainability, which promotes community planning to make best use of existing and future resources, has been a focus of the past two ICMA presidents, and on Earth Day in April the association launched a Sustainability Forum that allows members to share ideas on smart growth.
