Former President Clinton to headline USCM environmental summit
Former President Bill Clinton will be a guest speaker at the Washington-based U.S. Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) 3rd National Summit on Energy and the Environment scheduled for Nov. 1-2 in Seattle. The summit also will be the first meeting of U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement signatories.
The theme of the conference is accelerating local leadership. “The nation’s mayors are pleased to welcome President Clinton to our climate protection summit,” said USCM President and Trenton, N.J., Mayor Douglas Palmer in a statement. “Since leaving office, [Clinton] has supported efforts by cities that are leading the way to meet the climate protection goals necessary to save our planet.” The Clinton Climate initiative promotes pollution-reducing initiatives in 40 of the world’s largest cities.
