According to Pierce – which is a subsidiary of Oshkosh, Wis.-based Oshkosh Truck Corp. – the 10 Oshkosh heavy expanded-mobility tactical truck (HEMTT) platform-based water tender (HEWATT) vehicles are worth $4.5 million.
According to Pierce, the initial order could lead to a total of 119 vehicles under the new contract, with an estimated total value of $56 million. The vehicles are scheduled for delivery beginning in June 2008.
The HEWATT is designed as a multipurpose water distributor capable of providing structural and airfield crash/rescue support alongside the Pierce tactical firefighting truck (TFFT). TACOM awarded the five-year contract after evaluating four HEWATT vehicles at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground earlier this year.
