In July, Pennsylvania passed the Freedom to Breastfeed Act, which states that women who breast feed in public cannot be charged with a crime. State Sen. Connie Williams, who sponsored the act, says Pennsylvania was one of 12 states without laws to protect breast-feeding mothers. The act says breast feeding is “[a] basic act of nurturing that must be protected in the interests of … child health.”
