NLC launches Web-based municipal government channel
The Washington-based National League of Cities (NLC) has launched NLC TV, a Web-based channel dedicated to news and information about cities. NLC TV, available at www.nlctv.org, will feature monthly newscasts, live and taped Webcasts, and other video programming.
NLC Executive Director Donald Borut says the Web channel will keep the league on the cutting edge. “We are living in a visual society,” Borut says. “What we’re doing [with NLC TV] is making it possible to provide information that is Web-based, that is digital, and that can be used by local elected officials and their citizens.”
NLC TV video will be available in digital broadcast quality for use by television news and local cable outlets. The first monthly newscast will show NLC’s response to the FBI’s recent report on the increase of violent crime in smaller cities.
