A city councilman in Farmers Branch, Texas, is still pushing for his proposed illegal immigration laws despite concern by a group he helped form to promote the city’s economic revitalization. Councilman Tim O’Hare says city residents want the council to approve the laws that would punish landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and companies that employ them, according to The Dallas Morning News. Members of the Branch Revitalization Task Force, which O’Hare formed, say O’Hare’s talk about property values declining and crime rising, intended to promote the need for the new rules, portrays the city as “divisive and unsafe” and could drive away new businesses.
