For almost 15 years, many California workers who don’t drive to work have been due money that they aren’t receiving. Passed in 1992, the state’s parking cash-out law requires employers who pay for their employees’ parking to offer a cash payment equal to the cost of one space to employees who walk, bike or take public transportation to work, according to the Los Angeles Times. This week the Los Angeles City Council’s Transportation Committee will consider ways to implement the law that, until now, has been enforced only by Santa Monica.
