The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s attempt to simulate a disaster in a train tunnel under the Potomac River did not go as well as officials had hoped. One official gave the Metro a C for efforts after many of the 120 volunteer “victims” of the fictional train bombing complained about spending more than four hours in the dark tunnel waiting for rescue, according to the Washington Post. Officials had hoped to evacuate the victims in 45 minutes using a rescue train.
