Critics say it’s time for Dallas County, Texas, to turn over maintenance of county roads to the cities, but some commissioners say they want the control of doing the work with county employees. Some local officials say the old system is really just a way to maintain fiefdoms of political patronage, according to The Dallas Morning News. One commissioner says doing the work with county employees allows him to help cities that haven’t grown at the same rate as others.
