Melting machines turn up the heat to dissolve ice and snow
Instead of using trucks to transport and relocate collected snow, call on Snow Dragon snowmelters. On-site operation boasts up to 60% savings over traditional snow hauling methods. Models range from stationary units to mobile, trailer-based machines, which melt from 75 to 500 cu. yds. of snow per hr. (based on snow density of 30 lbs. per cu. ft.). Select from Model SND900 MiniPro (inset photo, at right) for small parking lots and schools; Model SND1800 (large, top photo) for stadiums, large parking lots, and streets; or Model SND5400 for airports and other sprawling sites. Each version features heat exchanger tubes and diesel-fired burners, integrated into a hot water bath that melts ice and snow. Hopper also contains pump that sprays warm water over snow to promote further melting. Built-in screens filter out dirt and debris from deposited snow, allowing clean water to exit machine, without clogging storm-water drains. Any contaminants remaining in machine can also be hauled and dumped to a designated site, if required. Machines operate quietly, allowing use in residential areas. Options range from floodlights to a stainless steel melting hopper.
