As part of its battle plan to protect soldiers, the U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a delivery order to Smiths Detection for more than 2,000 Improved Chemical Agent Monitors (ICAMs). The contract is valued at $9.5 million.
Each ICAM consists of a hand-held, post-attack device that locates the presence of nerve and blister agents that can contaminate personnel and equipment in both combat and homeland defense missions. The soldier-operated sensor can also confirm the absence of chemical threats in high-risk situations.
