Several architects in Memphis are hoping to create a “design center” that would address urban design and planning. The American Institute of Architects has given its Memphis chapter $10,000 to start the institute, and a forum was scheduled to be held this week to promote the movement, according to The Daily News. Some of the problems the center might consider are urban sprawl and the creation of pedestrian-friendly communities.
